We had 5 brave the weather on today’s open, here are the results:
- Neil Hodder Peg 9 29lb 2oz
- Aide Holland Peg 7 20lb 4oz
I started fishing the margin with micro’s and dead reads and picked up a carp and some roach which then went quiet. I struggled for bites for the next 2 hours until I started loose feeding corn on a short line and started catching straight away. I loose feed corn for the rest of the match and picked up a nice mix of carp, skimmers, roach and crucians on various lines.
Thanks to all who came, our next open is 14th February.

There was 5 in the section fishing here at Amalwhidden this Sunday, here are the results:
- Tony Jose Peg 15 72lb 8oz
- Roger Baker Peg 19 32lb
- Aide Holland Peg 10 20lb 12oz
Tony caught on the pole all day in a margin swim to his left. He fished up next to a Pontederia Lilly in about 2 1/2 feet of water, feeding corn and fishing corn on the hook for a great winter haul of carp. Well done Tony 🙂
Our next match is an open on Sunday 31st January. Hope to see you there.

Fir Tree pond has a shallow section along one side which over the last few years has been over grown with rushes. (Below) Fish have been holding up in this area making catching in other parts of the lake more difficult.
We had a digger in to remove all the weeds, which has made a bit of a mess down the far end!! All pegs are still fishable and when banks have dried out I will be adding 2 more pegs on Fir Tree pond, this will give us a total of 15 pegs on this lake.
The next phase for Fir Tree pond is to have a new stocking of carp, not totally sure on which size we are having yet but will post on my blog page when we get them! 🙂
This Sunday saw Chris Symons win his first match on Heron Lake (about time!!), here are the results:

- Jimmy Crossley Peg 15 20lb 7oz
Chris fished the left hand margin on peg 2 and fed small amounts of micro’s and fished dead reds for a nice net of winter carp. Thanks to all who came. Our next open is 31st January
I Had a phone call this morning from an annoyed Roger Baker at 8.15am whilst sitting in bed having a cup of tea!! White Acres cancelled there winter league match and some of them still wanted to fish and as I hadn’t organised a match today (because the weather forecast was really bad, which was it wasn’t) we had one here, here are the results:

I fished dead red maggot over loose fed micro’s and dead reds on pole and feeder for a nice net of winter carp. Thanks Rog for ringing I had a great day fishing! 🙂
